Dr. Chitra Jha

Dr. Chitra Jha is a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with more than 40 years of experience, including nearly three decades serving women in Oman. A Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London (FRCOG), she is one of the region's most experienced specialists in high-risk pregnancy, maternal medicine and general Gynaecology, and has been part of the Muscat Private Hospital team since December 2022.

Dr. Jha earned her MBBS and DGO from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India, beginning her career as a Medical Officer in the Indian Army Medical Corps. She obtained her MRCOG in 2001 and was elevated to FRCOG in 2014.

Before joining MPH, Dr. Jha served the Royal Hospital - Oman's tertiary referral centre - for nearly 30 years, ultimately as Senior Consultant and Head of the Maternal Medicine and High-Risk Pregnancy Unit, in a department managing around 8,000 deliveries a year. She ran specialised clinics for pregnant women with hypertension, cardiac disease, sickle cell disease, lupus (SLE), kidney disease, HIV, thyroid and blood disorders, and performed the most complex Caesarean sections, including placenta praevia and placenta accreta spectrum cases.

She is an extremely skilled and accomplished surgeon, performing all major and minor Gynaecology procedures including laparoscopic surgery.

A Senior Clinical Lecturer at Sultan Qaboos University, OMSB resident trainer, and current member of Oman's National Guideline Committee for pregnancy and childbirth, Dr. Jha combines vast clinical depth with genuine warmth - guiding every expectant mother, especially those with complicated pregnancies, safely through the journey to motherhood.
